Complete mesocolic resection was compared to D2 dissection in this study that included 1072 procedures. Three-year disease-free survival rates were similar after both procedures: 86.1 versus 81.9 per cent, respectively. Overall survival was also similar.
Comment: No advantage to extended surgery.
