Jonothan Earnshaw
Jonothan Earnshaw was a Consultant Vascular Surgeon in Gloucestershire UK for 30 years. Now semi retired, he has turned his focus to digital education, as Editor of a virtual textbook (Virtual Vascular), and Director of the BJS Academy. In the past he was an officer of the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland, and Clinical Lead of the NHS AAA Screening Programme in England. He has published over 200 articles in scientific journals, and edited five textbooks. Jonothan joined the editorial team of BJS in 1994 and was Editor in Chief of BJS from 2015 to 2020. The present post of Academy Director is the culmination of a relationship with BJS which has lasted over a quarter of a century.

Camilla O'Brien
BJS Foundation Executive Director
Camilla O’Brien is the Executive Director of the BJS Foundation and has worked with the Foundation since 2012. Camilla works closely with the Executive Committee and Council of Management and manages all of the sub-committees. Camilla has been involved with the BJS Academy from the beginning and has been integral to the concept, launch, and establishing the structure and team to deliver the project successfully. Camilla is also the founding Director of ACS Global, a company that provides integrated management solutions to associations, charities, and societies.

Alison Cherrie
Head of Publishing
With over 24 years of experience with BJS in various roles, including peer review and production, Alison Cherrie now serves as Head of Publishing for the BJS Academy. Alison played a pivotal role in the launch of BJS Open in 2017 and works closely with the editorial teams of both BJS and BJS Open to ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of the journals. A key focus of Alison’s role is the successful strategic development and growth of the journals. Additionally, she serves as the primary liaison with the publisher.

Carol Nicol
Head of Partnerships and Communications
Carol Nicol joined the BJS Academy in January 2022 and works closely with the Management Team, Executive Committee, and the Content Creation Team. Carol is an experienced association and conference professional with fifteen years of experience working with international associations, delivering association management, major conferences, membership, and other services at all levels.

Katie Pearce
Content Manager
Katie Pearce joined the BJS Academy as Content Manager in February 2024 and collaborates closely with the Management Team and BJS Academy Board. With a background in communications, marketing, website management, and content services, Katie has supported non-profit organisations, associations and educational institutions since 2016, delivering a range of strategic services to enhance their outreach and impact.
