Dis Colon Rectum 2026; 69: 1921-1929.
Some 112 patients were included, and surgical site infection rates were low and non-inferior with negative-pressure therapy (7 versus 2 per cent; absolute risk difference 5 per cent, 95 per cent confidence interval 2.5 to 12.5), while early wound healing at 2 weeks was far more frequent with negative-pressure therapy (77 versus 23.5 per cent, P<0.001), with complete healing in both groups by 6 weeks.
Comment: Negative-pressure therapy was non-inferior on infection risk and healed faster, though cost and patient experience warrant further study.
