Neoadjuvant chemotherapy versus upfront surgery in patients with locally advanced colon cancer: A randomized clinical trial

Some 248 patients were included based on staging using computed tomography findings, and neoadjuvant chemotherapy was not associated with improved 3-year disease-free survival (87 versus 83 per cent, P=0.36), although it was associated with reduced proportion of patients meting criteria for adjuvant chemotherapy (73 versus 59 per cent, P=0.02).
Comment: Negative phase III trial, albeit limited by CT-based risk stratification and lack of mismatch repair status-based patient selection.
