There were 102 procedures in this study. Compared to saline, lavage with super oxide solution reduced the overall risk of surgical site infection from 37.2 to 15.6 per cent, relative risk 0.42, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.20 to 0.87, P=0.014.
Comment: Convincing result.
