Some 83 patients were randomized. At 6 months, 71 per cent of patients in the collagen implant group and 60 per cent in the gluteus maximus flap group underperformed the timed-stand test. Non-inferiority of the collagen implant was not demonstrated.
Comment: Functional outcomes favored the gluteus maximus flap, although findings remain exploratory.
