Lymphatic venous anastomosis and complex decongestive therapy for lymphoedema: randomized clinical trial.

A total of 336 patients were included from two studies. Lymphovenous anastomosis did not reduce limb circumference or pain, but it did reduce the frequency of lymphoedema-associated cellulitis over six months, by 35 per cent in the large dataset, and by 60 per cent (95 per cent confidence interval -0.94 to -0.27 per cent) in the per protocol analysis.

Comment: The role of lymphovenous anastomosis still not clear, with only few studies outside Japan.
