A multicenter RCT involving 122 patients with suspected unilateral digital nerve injury compared microsurgical suture repair to nerve alignment alone. At 12 months, no significant differences were observed between groups in patient-reported outcomes (Impact of Hand Nerve Disorders, I-HaND v2), objective neurosensory and functional recovery, health-related quality of life, or complication rates.
Comment: Adding microsurgical suture repair is not beneficial, which is odd. Makes you wonder whether any surgical procedure is worthwhile.
