A single centre RCT included 86 normal-weight women, and at 1 year follow-up, there was no difference in recurrence following plication only and plication with mesh (both 5 per cent, p=0.922). Complication rates were also similar between groups (39 per cent vs. 33 per cent, p=0.558), and surgery resulted in improved quality of life and function.
Comment: Hard to compare techniques with small sample size with lower than expected recurrence rate.
