Preoperative chemoradiotherapy for resectable gastric cancer

Some 574 patients were randomized to preoperative radiotherapy, in addition to perioperative chemotherapy. After median follow-up of 67 months, the addition of radiotherapy did not improve survival: 46 months compared to 49 months with chemotherapy alone.
Comment: There does not appear to be a role for radiotherapy in these patients.
