Seventy patients with sarcopenia were randomized after portal vein embolization. A six-week programme of exercise and nutrition reduced the rate of postoperative morbidity from 50 to 13.3 per cent, P=0.004.
Comment: The six-week gap after portal vein embolization seems an ideal time for prehabilitation.
