This meta-analysis included 41 RCTs with 17,188 procedures. Surgical site infection was reduced by both antiseptic (relative risk 0.6, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.44 to 0.81) and antibiotic solutions (0.46, 0.27 to 0.73 to 0.83).
