BJS 2025; 112: znaf230.
Some 110 patients were included and followed for 30 days. Prophylactic closed incision negative-pressure therapy was not associated with reduced SSI rates (13 per cent vs. 8 per cent, P=0.673). No significant differences were found in other surgical-site occurrences (26 per cent vs. 23 per cent, p=0.907), scar scores (mean score 24 vs. 24, P=0.892), and change in quality of life (mean score change -13.0 vs. -12.6, P=0.874).
Comment: Small study, routine use of closed incision negative pressure therapy is not supported.
