Some 400 patients with nonpalpable breast malignancy were included, and no significant difference in negative margin rates (80 vs. 85 per cent, P=0.29) were found, with better patient-reported outcomes including anxiety, pain, and satisfaction in radioactive seed localization group. Providers associated radioactive seed localization with better convenience and satisfaction of surgical procedure conduct, though its incurred cost was $600 than wire localization.
Comment: Radioactive seed is a safe and convenient alternative to wire localization, but more expensive.
