Of the 1176 patients undergoing major surgery, fewer patients in the intervention group developed acute kidney injury (AKI) (14.4 vs. 22.3 per cent, P=0.0002), without significant differences in adverse events between groups.
Comment: A preventive care strategy protocol can reduce postoperative AKI, highlighting it is a modifiable complication.
