Transfascial fixation vs no fixation for open retromuscular ventral hernia repairs. A randomized clinical trial.

This registry-based RCT included 325 procedures. Recurrence rates after one year were similar after fixation 7.4 per cent, and no fixation 9.2 per cent, P=0.7.

Comment: Fixation is unnecessary.
