Presurgical oral tamoxifen vs transdermal 4-hydroxytamoxifen in women with ductal carcinoma in situ. A randomized clinical trial.

In this trial that included 75 evaluable patients, use of tamoxifen gel on the breast skin did not have similar biochemical changes to use of oral tamoxifen preoperatively. In addition the DCIS score decreased more with oral tamoxifen.
Comment: This formulation is not an acceptable alternative to Tamoxifen tablets.
