Preoperative dexamethasone administration in hepatectomy of 25-min intermittent Pringle’s maneuver for hepatocellular carcinoma: a randomized controlled trial.

Some 277 procedures were included. Perioperative use of dexamethasone 10mg, improved postoperative biochemical liver function and reduced major complications (14.1. vs. 24.2 per cent, P= 0.031) and postoperative hospital stay (median 6 vs 7 days, P=0.046).

Comment: Simple medication with potentially significant effect.
