This study included 302 young people. Depilation and good skin hygiene reduced the risk of recurrent disease at one year: -23.2 per cent (95 per cent confidence interval -33.2 to -13.1 per cent, P<0.001).

Comment: Depilation and good hygiene are fundamental in treatment of pilonidal disease.
