Impact of acupuncture and integrative therapies on chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy: a multicentered, randomized controlled trial.
Ben-Arye E, Hausner D, Samuels N, Gamus D, Lavie O, Tadmor T et al.
Cancer 2022; 128: 3641-3652.
In this study that included 168 patients, acupuncture, with or without other complementary therapies improved the symptoms of neuropathy, particularly hand numbness and discomfort (P=0.007) after six weeks, and improved emotional wellbeing (P=0.04).
Comment: Neuropathy is one of the most unpleasant side effects of chemotherapy, so this study gives optimism that it may at least be minimised by intervention.
