Dayyeh PKA, Bazerbachi F, Vargas EJ, Sharaiha RZ, Thompson CC, Thaemert BC et al, for the MERIT Study Group.

Lancet 2022; 400: 441-451.

After one year, mean percentage excess weight loss was 49.2 per cent after sleeve gastrectomy compared to 3.2 per cent in controls, P<0.0001, in this study that included 209 patients. There were only three serious adverse events (2 per cent) after surgery.
