Effect of regional vs general anesthesia on incidence of postoperative delirium in older patients undergoing hip fracture surgery. The RAGA randomized trial.

Li T, Li J, Yuan L, Wu J, Jiang C, Daniels J et al, for the RAGA Study Investigators.
JAMA 2022; 327: 50-58.

Some 950 patients over 65 years old were included. Postoperative delirium within seven days was recorded in 5.1 per cent in those who had a GA, compared to 6.2 per cent who had spinal or epidural, P=0.48.

Comment: surprisingly low rate; reproducible in other specialties?
