Some 163 patients were included, and at median follow-up of 27 months, disease-free survival (hazard ratio 0.8, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.47 to 1.4, P=0.50) and overall survival (hazard ratio 0.6, 0.36 to 1.14, P=0.12) were similar between groups. Segment 4b/5 resection was associated with longer surgery and higher blood loss, without significant difference in morbidity, mortality, and R0 resection rate.
Comment: Segment 4b/5 vs wedge resection for GB adenocarcinoma: no significant survival difference in this superiority trial, likely underpowered to rule out a real difference.
