Some 178 patients were included with median follow-up of 16.9 months, and median survival was significantly longer in the neoadjuvant group (18.0 months, 95 per cent confidence interval 13.8 to 27.6) compared to the control group (8.7 months, 7.2 to 12.4) (P<0.001). Grade 3 and higher adverse events occurred in 28 per cent of patients in the neoadjuvant group, none of which resulted in mortality.
Comment: Neoadjuvant GOLP improves survival with acceptable safety; longer-term and larger-scale validation is needed.
