Of 118 included patients who were at increased nutritional risk, those in the early enteral nutrition group had a lower mean 90-day comprehensive complication index (mean difference 10.3, 95 per cent confidence interval 1.8 to 18.8, P=0.02) No difference in procedure specific complications were found.
Comment: Early enteral nutrition may improve outcomes, though patient experience and tolerability require further evaluation.
