Some 76 to 84 patients who underwent minimally invasive thoracic surgery were included at 3-, 6-, and 12-month follow-up, and neuropathic pain scores were higher in the group receiving cryotherapy at all time points. General pain score was also worse in the cryotherapy group at 3 and 6 months.
Comment: Randomized data raise concerns that cryoanalgesia may increase long-term neuropathic pain.
