Of the 134 included patients, those in the pyloroplasty arm were less like to have an anastomotic leak or pneumonia within 30 days of surgery (18 versus 27 per cent). The stopping criteria were met, and trial ended early.
Comment: Promising short-term results, but the trade-off with delayed complications and function remains uncertain.
