BJS Academy is pleased to announce the launch of the BJS Academy Virtual Journal Club, a new educational initiative designed to bring together surgical trainees, researchers, and clinicians from around the world to discuss impactful surgical research and develop critical appraisal skills.
The Virtual Journal Club will provide a platform for international discussion of important research published in BJS, BJS Open, and other leading surgical journals. Each session will feature trainee presentations followed by expert-led discussion, creating an engaging environment for learning, debate, and professional development.
The inaugural session, led by the Young BJS Board, will focus on the important topic of surgeon wellbeing and resilience, exploring the impact of adverse events and psychological resilience in surgical practice. Two recent research papers will be discussed:
During the session, trainee presenters will introduce the key findings and methodology of each paper, followed by a moderated expert discussion exploring the implications for surgical training, clinical practice, and surgeon wellbeing. Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage with the speakers by submitting questions throughout the event via the live Q&A chat.
The BJS Academy Virtual Journal Club aims to support evidence-based practice, research literacy, and trainee development, while fostering collaboration across the international surgical community.
