Balanced crystalloid solution versus saline in deceased donor kidney transplantation (BEST Fluids): a pragmatic, double-blind, randomised controlled trial.

Some 808 patients having kidney transplantation from deceased donors were included. Delayed grafted kidney function was reduced by the use of balanced crystalloid fluids for 48h after transplantation: 30 per cent, compared to 40 per cent with saline.

Comment: The authors state this should be the standard of care. Hard to disagree.
