Median follow-up was 9.6 years in this trial that included 1607 women. Radiotherapy did not improve survival: hazard ratio 1.04, 95 per cent confidence interval 0.82 to 1.3, P=0.8. It did reduce chest wall recurrence: 1.1 versus 2.5 per cent, hazard ratio 0.45, 0.2 to 0.99.
Comment: No benefit in women receiving adjuvant systemic therapy.
