In this instalment of our surgical ergonomics series, Julie Hallet and Susan Hallbeck explore the role of intraoperative microbreaks in improving operating room ergonomics, reducing OR staff discomfort and enhancing mental focus. They review research and evidence demonstrating how these breaks can improve surgical accuracy and performance and, ultimately, benefit surgeon wellness and patient safety. They also describe practical applications to facilitate these microbreaks in the OR , including a web-based app designed specifically for this purpose.
We’re delighted to offer this content in both video and podcast format.
