Incisional hernia following colorectal cancer surgery according to suture technique: Hughes Abdominal Repair Randomized Trial (HART)
HART Collaborative.
Br J Surg 2022; 109: 943–950.
This study that included 802 procedures showed that the risk of postoperative incisional hernia was high. After two years there was no difference in the rate of incisional hernia after Hughes repair compared to standard mass closure: 28.7 versus 31.8 per cent, P=0.429.
Comment: Ways to reduce incisional hernia are still needed.
