Quality-of-life and recurrence outcomes following laparoscopic elective sigmoid resection vs conservative treatment following diverticulitis. Prespecified 2-year analysis of the LASER randomized clinical trial.

Eighty-five patients were included in this planned analysis. After two years, 25/44 patients in the conservative group had recurrent diverticulitis and eight required sigmoid colectomy. Four patients who had surgery had recurrent diverticulitis. G.I. quality of life was similar between the two groups.

Comment: Useful interim information.
