Optimal management of asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis: a systematic review and network meta-analysis

Over 14000 people were included  in this analysis. It concluded modern best medical therapy had similar reductions in stroke and death rates to carotid endarterectomy. It was not possible to define any subgroups that might benefit from vascular intervention.

Comment: complex and detailed study undermining the previously agreed role of vascular intervention.
