Timing of primary surgery for cleft palate

Some 552 infants were randomized to surgery at six or twelve months. Poor speech and language scores at age five were more common after surgery at twelve months: 15 versus 8.9 per cent, P=0.04.

Comment: Really useful study done in adequately resourced hospitals.
