Routine end-ischemic hypothermic oxygenated machine perfusion in liver transplantation from donors after brain death. A randomized controlled trial.

Some 104 liver transplantations were included. Early allograft function was similar after both methods (P=0.24). Also, complication rates and other outcomes were similar.

Comment: This was a relatively small study that only included 26 livers that had machine perfusion. Nevertheless the result was disappointing.
