In this study that included 871 procedures, a single dose of Amoxicillin-clavulanic acid did not reduce the risk of wound infection up to 30 days: 16.2 per cent versus 19.2 per cent in controls, P=0.25.
Comment: not beneficial even in higher risk subgroups – obese or Staph aureus carriers.
